I saw this cutting die set for sale at a real bargain price, and snapped it up instantly. I thought it would make a lovely Lantin, and in my humble opinion I was right! 🙂
This Lantin is a scene of a manor house set in formal gardens. It reminds me of some of the beautiful Plas houses (mansions) in my part of Wales, like Plas Glynllifon just down the road from me, and slightly further afield the beautiful Plas Brondanw, ancestral home of Portmeirion’s creator Clough Williams-Ellis (truly magical – if you’ve never been before, do visit as it’s wonderful).
As a real fan of gardening (when the mood takes me), I really love a nice garden. I love all sorts of gardens really – formal gardens, cottage gardens, prairie gardens, zen gardens… as long as things are growing in it and there’s no astroturf, I’m interested!
I’ve used several colours of pearlised card for this Lantin, each of which catches the white lights shining within and gives a gentle shimmer. We have a deep olive green, a lighter green, a couple of bits of dark forest green, and some ivory and silver. The peacock at the front is cut from a beautiful deep blue pearlised cardstock, and the little flowers along the balustrade are cut from a deep pink pearlised cardstock. The background and inner sides are cut from a beautiful mid-blue pearlised cardstock.
This is a large rectangular Lantin, measuring approximately 17 x 13 x 5.5 cm. It is supplied with a matching lid, and presented in a Mooshkin branded cotton drawstring bag which also contains a 1m USB extension cord to give you a little extra reach in case your shelf and electrical socket have a bit of distance between them.
Note: you will need a USB plug (such as is used for charging a mobile phone) or a USB battery pack – neither of which are supplied with the Lantin. While my Lantins will undoubtedly be attractive to children, please exercise caution and keep the Lantin and its cables out of reach of tiny hands.
