I agonised over whether to add “cartref newydd” to this new home card, since I tend to mostly make Welsh greetings cards these days. But since the die set included a doormat saying “welcome”, it didn’t really feel right to add a Welsh sentiment. Consequently, this is a ‘new home’ card which could be given to a Welsh-speaking household or an English-speaking household. However, I can add “cartref newydd” or “new home” to the top of the card by special request (please add a note to your order or get in touch before ordering).
The background of this card is a terracotta-coloured plain cardstock which I’ve embossed with a very pleasing brick pattern – this gives loads of very tactile texture.
The door frame is cut from plain white card, and the door from a lovely royal blue. I’ve added some very light blue behind the patterned panel at the top of of the door, and then die cut the letterbox and lock from gold pearlised cardstock. The doormat is cut from kraft card with a plain black piece behind to bring out the lettering really clearly.
To each side of the door you’ll find two lanterns in black, with very pale blue for the glass panels, and below these are two topiary trees cut from plain green card but with a glittery green card behind to make the leaves stand out (I regretted this, as the dies were designed to emboss the leaves, not cut them out, so I had to really fiddle with them to make the leaf apertures). The topiary trees are planted in periwinkle blue pots.
This is a fairly large new home card measuring around 12.7 x 17.7cm. It’s supplied with a white envelope and protected by a cellophane bag.
