These dragonfly danglers have been going down a treat at craft fairs the past couple of summers. People often ask me how they’re made, so if you’re curious check out my tutorial!
Each dragonfly is hand made using three colours of Fimo twisted and rolled together to make a very pleasing marbled pattern. The eyes are beads, the wings acetate. Each dragonfly’s body and wings are dusted with fine iridescent glitter to help it catch the sunlight.
Basically a sun catcher, each dragonfly dangler has four dragonflies of different colourways and five sets of sunlight-catching glass, metal and plastic beads. At the bottom of each dragonfly dangler is a ‘pendant’ (for want of a better word), in brightly coloured lucite leaves and flowers.
Due to metal parts (bead eyes, wire, etc) dragonfly danglers are not really suitable for outdoor use, as the metal will rust. But you could hang one from the underside of a sheltered area of your garden where it won’t get rained on. For best effect, though, just hang them inside a window that gets a lot of sun, and enjoy the colours and sparkle!
Each dragonfly dangler is completely unique – no two are identical. When you order, I’ll pick one at random for you. However, if you have a specific request regarding the colour scheme and/or the pendant, please do get in touch as I may be able to custom-make one for you.
